At the time we were simply devastated by uneven grout lines which were neither straight nor lining up at the corners of the room, and the very bad lipping of approximately a third of the tiles most of which had occured in very obvious places. Lipping is normally caused by uneven walls but in this case the builder had actually created the walls to be tiled himself!
Not to mention the tendancy of the wet room to stay that way since it never actually drained.
The truth was worse if that were possible, because as we now know, the stone was not prepared correctly, cut correctly, finished correctly, and to top it all the layout wasn't planned correctly in the first place.
Having previous tiling experience (albeit only with family and friends homes and rental properties), we saw no other option but to smash out the tiles and start again this time undertaking the work ourselves. After completing our formal training, we've never looked back.
At Armadillo Tiling we aspire to carry out our work, from the humblest backsplash to the highest specification kitchen or bathroom, with a reputation that is second to none and
since our reputation is only as good as our last customer then it follows that every customer is important... No matter what the size of job.

Armadillo Tiling was created 3 years ago as a response to our own renovation project carried out by others which went disastrously wrong at a high emotional cost as well as financial, and leaving us with a large and tricky area to retile. But at that time, though we tried numerous tilers we could not find one who could give us the right answers to our questions, keep appointments, raise a quotation and also respond to our increasingly desperate phone calls.
Out of the whole experience Armadillo Tiling was born with the premise that no one should have to suffer the way we did.
The plan was to convert a simple 2m x 4m 1970's bathroom into a modern dream bathroom, knocking through to a new wet room, tiling throughout with limestone and raising the ceiling of the main area to the full height of the pitched roof.
The project was planned meticulously, carefully budgetted and scheduled as 3 to 4 weeks work. Unfortunately the builder provided his own tiler who was clearly unused to the materials involved or of providing work to the standards anyone would reasonably expect in a high class project of this type.
